Burning all books?

What are your thoughts on the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Switzerland. Does it pose any danger to the earth as some people are suggesting?

pauld

The main danger is that the aim of planned CERN research is a major insult to the Universe. For this reason I expect a never-ending string of problems with planned experiments that will prevent them from proceeding, unless someone will think about more intelligent experiments than smashing things.

What would you say to a child who keeps smashing toys and insists that toys make themselves?

You can burn a book and find out how much "energy" the book contains. Following this approach you will thoroughly miss everything that the book is about. The problem is that virtually all scientists on Earth are obsessed with "energy". This approach is no less barbarian than the attitude of burning all existing books. The Universe is a nice system of Information processing. Everything material is simply a carrier of information.

People who misuse their intelligence to fool people to believe that the Universe is composed mainly of black holes will suffer form mysterious diseases that will reduce their ability to communicate the conscious pollution. The concept of black holes originates from a total lack of understanding the source of gravity.
