Is Homosexuality Natural?

I am wondering if you could please give us some insight into homosexuality.

Belle

It is a matter of choice.

Our choices are determined and limited by our understanding of the Reality of the Universe (=Nature). My view is that a sexual act between people of the same sex is an act against the Design of the Universe and against our own Nature in particular.

I do not know what are particular consequences of choosing homosexual behavior. I have never been interested to explore this topic.

When I was younger, I had many gay friends and never gave it second thought. Everyone deserves unconditional love.

Now, for some reason, I am finding a place inside of me that is recoiling from their lifestyle. I don't know where this is coming from and I guess that I am just surprised at myself.

Some conscious associations that we develop when we are young stay with us for a considerable length of time.

I am a 21 year old lesbian who takes great offense to you stating that homosexuality is a choice. I know many people who were never given a choice and certainly would have chosen to be straight rather than face all the hardships associated with being gay. How is it unnatural to find love and harmony with another human being? And if it were so unnatural to be homosexual then why are so many born with this inclination? Do you feel that makes them bad?

You seem to miss the point. Firstly, you have The Freedom of Thought and no one in the Universe can interfere with it, unless you allow it yourself. Choices are for YOU to make and cannot be "given". See this article for more details.

Secondly, by focusing on your sexual preferences you miss your Purpose of Existence. A wise man @2000 years ago summarized this as follows:

"Miserable is the body that depends on another body. And miserable is the soul that depends on the two of them." [2]. Do you need to have it translated into plain English?

Hi Tom, Where did you get your copy of the book of Thomas? The quotes you use from it are extremely deep and insightful. I would like to have a copy, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. With Love Jacky

My friend bought it for me at Theosophical Society bookshop.
