Is loneliness and isolation necessary?

Tom,In your article 'chance or choice' there is one part I do not understand. You say that experiencing loneliness and isolation is needed to develop intellect. I just can't understand totally, why this is the case. Can you please explain? Thanks

DG

The essential reason is simple. Everything important about consciousness and intellect is INDIVIDUAL.

For example, your thoughts are strictly yours.

No one can GIVE you intellect, imagination or a sense of humour. No one can experience any feeling FOR you. All of this you can only develop yourself.

Conscious progress (development of intellect, imagination, feelings, sense of humour etc..) is strictly an individual effort. No one can achieve any of the above FOR you. You need to AIM to achieve it all by yourself.

For this reason, periods of being, thinking and feeling all by yourself are absolutely essential to make conscious progress.
