The Freedom of Choice is one of the most stimulating books I have read. Thank you, Tom for challenging my intellect. I have some questions for you. What freedom of choice do newborn babies with brain damages have? What freedom of choice did the 5000 victims of September 11th have? Although the Great Intellect could develop itself, it cannot start from nothing, but it must start from something. Where did this something come from?

In regard to your last question, Intellect is just about the only thing in the Universe that can actually develop itself. Every physicist will tell you that material things (atoms etc..) can only decay and disintegrate (entropy has to increase). For more details and the expanded context of the above explanation please read this article.
