On 4th July 2014 "Science" has published the article demonstrating that people prefer to suffer electric shocks rather than being alone with their own thoughts.
You explained in FoC: "No one else can develop your intellect - you can only do it Yourself."
Does this mean that "according to science" people on Earth abandoned their conscious evolution?
Isn't this alarming?
The Abstract and Editor summary of the article is here: http://www.sciencemag.org/content/345/6192/75

The article seems to confirm my own diagnosis of humanity: people avoid thinking on their own and prefer to "follow" - something or someone.
What is really alarming is that the conclusion stated in the Abstract and the Editor summary is based on 11 studies (!) which indicates that the problem of people avoiding own thoughts is widespread, if not dominating the humanity.
Can people who avoid thinking for themselves be helped?
Or perhaps they are beyond help already?
When people avoid their own thoughts they easily become "perfect members of the flock".
What flock? It does not really matter. Some people follow religious, political and other fanatical doctrines or propaganda, some people follow "economical propaganda of growth and money", some people follow various "gurus", some follow a "course in miracles" and some people just follow the majority of other people nearby or online, all because they are unwilling/unable to think for themselves.
People who follow the flock have no time for Reality: they just live, react and think as flock.
Which flock do YOU follow? Have you heard about "legal" Facebook experiments? http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2014/s4035624.htm
Can you guess WHO benefits from cultivating and promoting flock mentality and from developing tools and methodology to control flocks?
Can you guess what is most likely future of a society composed of such flocks? Conflicts and wars between flocks? Total detachment from Reality? Careless abandonment of "Life Support" on Earth?

You do not need Science to prove that people cannot handle their own thoughts and need a constant distraction. I see zombies glued to their smartphones everywhere, even when crossing the street or listening to lectures at Uni. JC, 9 July 2014
Since I read this Science article, I've lost most interest in interacting with people. When 99% of all interactions will probably be with a non-thinking person, I hesitate to even try... Andreas , 9 July 2014
Some interaction with people is unavoidable, because we share the planet with many people.
Perhaps we should try to interact with people intelligently enough to stimulate at least some people to wake up to Reality of their own Consciousness. Just give them a chance.
Even if we succeed for one person in a thousand - it is worth our effort.
When we try - we create a great lesson for ourselves no matter what the outcome of out effort actually is. By learning what works better we can learn about many aspects of our own Self and make many improvements for our future interactions.
A baby or a little child has a limited ability to think. Does it mean that we should not interact with babies or children? Not really. We just need to develop smart ways to interact with children that bring maximum mutual benefit - to them and to us, in the domain of consciousness of course.
Let me give you an example. A 5 year-old girl tries to describe a cartoon story to family audience and in the process mentions that she can "see it". I interrupt: "close your eyes and you will see better". The girl closes her eyes and says "yeah", pauses her story and smiles "yeah..."
The little girl learned how to prolong/recall her visual memories and I learned that my own experiences can help other people to use their conscious facilities better.

Its not at all surprising that people dont want to think. We are conditioned from an early age to not think for ourselves. How many times have "adults" said to you stop day dreaming, get your head out of the clouds, pay attention, etc...children have vivid imaginations that are surpressed by schooling and other distractions like tv and now smartphones.
We are discouraged and even disciplined when we think for ourselves. We are taught to obey adults/authority without question. I think it is rare for a child to have the ability to question this programing and even rarer for someone to break it at an older age. instead, like Tom said, we follow the various flocks and countinue to be distracted by bs that we are told is important.
I believe people are waking up but its too slow and there are many out there waiting for some outside force (alien, astrological, etc) to jump start a supposed conscienceness shift. These people will be waiting in vain. Yet another distraction for us not to taking responsibility in changing our own actions and thoughts... Teddy 31 July 2014
