Higher Self
The Higher Self seems to be a very popular topic so I thought I would add my own comments and questions.
I am not sure where the following ideas come from, I have read so much that it is hard to remember where my ideas have came from.
Is it true that a single higher self is in fact associated with more than one physical person and also that a higher self has its own higher self and so on. Would this mean that the communication interface to the Great Intellect is actually multi-layered in a pyramid type structure.
If this were so than for you to experience something that makes it through the umpteen layers and reaches the Great Intellect would have to be a very special experience indeed.

Thaora in The Book explains that there is a 9 stage interface to the Great Intellect and that the First stage serves 9 people on the same planet. Multi-stage filtering seems logical, but we cannot verify it on Earth, so it is difficult to discuss it. In my explorations, I have confirmed that behind The First Light, there is another, brighter one and a "tunnel" leading to it is actually BRIGHT.
Michel Desmarquet, author of The Book insists, that identical twins share the same Higher Self. He also insists, that what we call "schizophrenia" (experiencing multiple personalities) is not a disease, but actually the effect of experiencing feelings of other people via their common Higher Self.

If two people who shared the same higher self met then would they experience a special bond between them?

Two people who share the same Higher Self would be as compatible with each other as identical twins.

At the moment we have chosen to live a life in a physical body but can we, when sufficiently developed, actually choose to be a Higher Self?

Without physical body you will be able to stay with your Higher Self for as long as you can, but I don't think you cannot become one. We are Individual Intellects for a REASON.

Does the Higher Self experience what we experience, including the bad, in order to filter out the rubbish? If so I can imagine that being a higher self is quite a rotten job!

Sure it does. When the amount of crap is SO overwhelming that it becomes impossible to filter it - the Higher Self has a capacity to induce a major catastrophe/epidemic etc... to divert people's attention and prompt them to focus on their Selves.

Thanks Tom, I was under the impression that the Higher Self was in fact another individual intellect who had taken on the role. But I see now that a higher self is something completely different entirely. [A.J.]

This raises some interesting questions. You mention a second light/tunnel beyond the first. Have you tried reaching this? I wonder how far we can go? Maybe all the way to the Great Intellect.
Yes I did, but I came to the conclusion that I live in a physical body for a REASON and that escaping from my physical body is not a very good idea. I WAS there to start with - before I was born...
I have also found barriers, preventing me to go further without sufficient understanding.

Do we keep the same Higher Self for our next physical lifetime and if so do the other 8 intellects who share your higher self remain the same?
We do not know this. Michel Desmarquet reports in The Book that we re-join our Higher Self when and if we decide to undergo a 'test' in a physical body.

I wonder if it is possible to ask your higher self for a meeting with the other intellects that share your higher self.
Anything is possible, but whether or not it is beneficial for the evolution of your Intellect is another matter.

Yes, precisely. So-called 'soul mates' are as compatible as identical twins.

Maybe it IS. It seems to be a tool of Great Intellect - but it contains the part of OUR consciousness that we carry from lifetime to lifetime - the part that we 'forget' when we take the 'exam' of life in a physical body.
The name Higher Self comes from The Book. Before we dismiss it - we need to understand MUCH more...

Tom, Are there ways to check whether someone is your soul-mate (ie. shares the same Higher Self )?
I would like very much to know whether or not someone, who is very close to me at present, is in fact sharing my Higher Self. Is there any test such as asking them a planned question or creating a particular situation that may help in this case?

Ask yourself - WHY do you need to know? What if you don't know?
I think the best is to observe (or read about) identical twins. When one twin gets hurt - another FEELS the exact symptoms. They feel each other's feelings quite accurately, even if they are on different continents.
The problem is that people who are truly in love with each other develop very similar "communication".
In summary, we do not have enough knowledge or skills to establish a comprehensive answer to your question.

According to The Book, The Higher Self is an entity which sends one ninth of itself into a human being. Since one Higher Self inhabits 9 human bodies, so the higher self is usually at the material plane rather than the spiritual plane assuming that the 9 human beings are alive. So, the first category higher self is inside our physical bodies not in somewhere outside in the higher dimension. Am I right?

The concept of "higher dimensions" is very vague and ambiguous. Since it doesn't really explain anything about Reality of the Universe, I avoid it.
According to my understanding, The Higher Self of the first category is an "autonomous central entity" (=autonomous Intellect) that "allocates" resources of its Intellect to 9 different people, but maintains its own integrity.
Activities of the HS of the 1-st category may be associated with the physical body, but don't forget that its MAIN role is to provide you with the INDIVIDUAL conscious INTERFACE to The Great Intellect.
Finding and exploring this interface should be one of the MAIN goals in our lives. Whenever you go out of your body - AIM FOR THE LIGHT.

Reading The Book, I have found you are correct except for one thing. Thaora does not say that the 9 people served have to be on the same planet. Are you absolutely sure that this is so? Isn't it possible that Higher Selves could serve people on different planets of the same category as well? As long as astral bodies are compatible given their equal categories, why shouldn't that be so?Or am I missing something?

The information about the same planet comes from discussions with Michel. He was absolutely sure about it. It was so obvious for him that he neglected to explain it in his book in more detail. In the new edition that we prepare - there will be footnotes clarifying issues like this. We also plan to have the entire book in the form of a database, possibly online, so you will be able to search for any phrase and/or explanation.
