The Purpose of Yoga?

Dr. Chalko
I've noticed that you haven't commented on the healing aspect of vibrations. Or is it that the other exercises that you talk about for healing the body and spirit easier and more efficient? How do you feel about yoga?

Belle

Everything in the Universe is a "vibration" to start with. What healing are you talking about? What would be THE POINT of "healing" anyone in view of The Purpose of the Universe? Aren't all diseases perfect lessons for our Self that expose our own weaknesses?

The point of our conscious existence is to increase our understanding of the Reality of the Universe, especially PRINCIPLES of its design. A very good starting point is learning how to control your body with your mind.

I do not know much about yoga (I limit myself to the Tibetan Six), but I feel that this is where some ancient "yoga" techniques (both physical and mental) may greatly help.

From my limited contacts with a local "yoga association" I conclude that there are some elements of "doctrine" and "do as we say - do not ask questions" attitude in the modern "yoga".

People practice it, without understanding WHAT IS THE POINT of doing it. Many "swamis" say that the aim of practicing yoga is to "attain liberation". When I asked them "liberation from WHAT?" and "what would I do NEXT?" - they felt offended.

Without good MOTIVES and without understanding the REASON and the GOAL - there is little point of doing ANY exercise.

Tom

The Tibetan Six? I only have five. Am I missing something?

When I went on my spiritual quest when I turned 40, I looked into everything. I stayed with the Tibetan Five because they promote lucid dreaming, and my meditation was better. I think they are powerful exercises.

Belle

Yes, they are amazing exercises. SO simple and yet SO complete.

The 6-th exercise comes with a warning. It is about stopping the breath. Its aim is to re-direct the sexual energy into spiritual direction - to boost activities of the intellect. The original source (Peter Kelder - early edition) states that you shouldn't practice it, unless you actually feel the urge AND you decided to abstain from sexual activities permanently to maximize development of your intellect.

Tom

Thank you. I remember it now. [Belle]

Tibetan Six, where can I find more info on Tibetan Five or Six

harry

Peter Kelder, The Eye of Revelation - The Original Five Rites of Rejuvenation, Borderland Sciences Research Foundation, 1989, ISBN 0-945685-04-1. Should I put a summary of these exercises on this Forum?

Tom

Yes Tom, please put a summary of these excersises on the forum. [A.J.]

Please put the summary Tom.

S.S.

Here it is. Description of Tibetan 5 doesn't belong to this Forum - it deserves to be published separately

Tom

yes Tom I would like to know more about these yoga practices. I think I have only attended Hatha Yoga classes and know very little about what you speak of.

Kimbra

Please click here for explanation.

Tom

Tom, what are your opinions on Kundalini Yoga, more specifically the many frightening symptoms that people can develop as a result of practicing yoga and meditation. I am unsure if these results are unique to Kundalini or all types of yoga/meditations.

I am very aware that the Tibetan 5 focuses on a similar chakra construct and development of energies. Should people on the forum be aware of such issues or do you believe they are isolated to certain practices?

JG

What "frightening symptoms" are you talking about? When you focus on the development of your Intellect and your Final Goal - "frightening symptoms" are simply irrelevant.

Tom

Hi Tom, I have just received the Peter Kelder book “The Eye of Revelation” after reading about it on your forum and I have found it very interesting.

Apart from the exercises which you have recommended I am interested in hearing your views on the other advise he mentions: not mixing categories of food, lowering of the voice to stimulate the throat chakra and keeping the varieties of food to a minimum.

Are these things that you agree with ? As the author of The Joy of Perfect Health, which I have read, I think you are just the person to ask !

A.J.

Yes, I see the logic in the things you mentioned. By eating one kind of food at a time - you vastly increase the efficiency of your metabolism and free considerable resources of the mind that are otherwise engaged in managing it.

For example you can live almost indefinitely on as little as 10 to 20 grams (!) of spirulina (blue-green algae) a day. (Of course you need also to drink water). I have tried it for many weeks myself.

Tom

Is it possible to live on just a few spoons of blue green algea?

Can you please expand on this, I am already a vegan who's done detox so how do I start with this, should I do anything special, is there any particular way to eat it,raw, boiled ect...Love and Light

ROBIN

It is really simple. Spirulina and water.

The simplest way to start is to use spirulina when you come out of fasting. You will be surprised how little you need and how efficient your body can become.

Tom

Hi Tom; Do you know a source that talks about the daily 10-20 grams of spirulina? I would like to show some people an article or a text about that.

S.S.

Articles can be written for various reasons, such as marketing for example. The best is to try yourself and speak from your own experience. This is what I do.

Tom

Does 20 grams give you enough energy to go about your daily business?

A.J.

Yes. I have tested the spirulina + water diet for about 6 weeks and then stopped the experiment for social and family reasons. I felt that I could continue for much longer, but I wasn't doing any physical work.

Tom

Are you a vegan Tom? What are the proper substitutes for milk and meat? As far as I know, vitamins contained in these are essential to a healthy body. How well does spirulina cover these?

madd_laughter

The view that meat contains "vitamins" or other essential nutrients is promoted by the industry that makes huge profits when we are all SICK. When we are healthy - they have no business whatsoever.

My attitude is to use my intellect and find out what works for me.

As far as spirulina is concerned - it is a superfood. It contains hundreds of minerals, many of them in higher concentration than any other food on Earth.

One of the best things about it is that it is non-processed food (the only process that is used to package it is drying). Also, spirulina is a food from the very beginning of the food chain, so it accumulates small amounts of environmental pollutants.
