Celebrating funeral?

Dear Tom Chalko, The other day my friend's father died and i was told to go to the funeral but i chose not to go 'cause i don't like the sad negative feel of it. So my question is, was that the right choice or am i being too insensitive? What's your opinion on this subject?

You have the Freedom of Choice to do whatever you decide to be the most adequate at a given time.

At first, funeral seems to be just a ceremony. However, there are some interesting aspects of it. First of all, funerals are attended by people who are alive. Some of those people are in severe stress and have difficulty accepting the temporary nature of the physical reality.

In such a state many people seek "answers" and/or support without even realizing it. Your conscious presence would give you an opportunity to offer them support even if you wouldn't say a single word.

Some advanced civilizations actually celebrate an end of a successful life. Can you imagine that?
