Charity?

Would you agree that giving money to various charities is a waste of time? Do you consider it a bandaid solution?

Marcus

@2000 years ago a wise man said: "If you give to charity, you will harm your spirits".

Religions, such as christianity for example, focus on "managing charities" for centuries. What have they achieved? Making people forever dependant on their help? Gaining a public image of "helpers of the poor" so that they can brainwash more people with their doctrines?

Giving money to someone who says that he/she will use this money to help someone is the worst "help" you can imagine.

Why giving to charity can "harm your spirits"?Doesn't giving to charity make you believe that you helped someone? Did you really? Whom? How? Was it a real help? How did this "help" relate to The Purpose of their Existence?

Believing that someone will help someone just because you paid for it to happen is a severe pollution of consciousness. Just as believing that you can pay to evolve.

Tom

Tom, I agree with you in principle - in fact I was about to ask that very question - but when I thought about it, I realised that I didn't truly agree with it in ALL circumstances. For example, I give to the Children's Hospital benefits, because it gives those children a chance at becoming better people when they grow up.

Granted, some will have HS-induced diseases to learn things, but others will have broken spines and skulls, and who are too young to learn as we do, to avoid such situations that cause broken spines and bones.

How about if we were to give money/effort to help people ourselves? What if Jesus had this attitude and let us all 'help ourselves', instead of coming down and allowing us to choose enlightenment?

Lachie

Please try to distinguish giving MONEY and effort. Jesus did not give anyone any money, did he? He made some people THINK thanks to what he said and did.

We should try to inspire people to THINK too. This is the best help one can give to another human being.

Tom

Agreed.Living by example is another great way to make people think. It's one thing to say how things should be, but then actually practicing what you preach is another.

I find it amusing when I see stickers on the back of cars that say something like this,'Save the old growth forests'. I would love to, one day ask them why they promote preservation of trees and still drive a fossil fuel burning engine.

Marcus

Maybe they feel better by suggesting someone to do something.

Tom

Hello there, i was wondering who exactly is the 'wise man' that said 'If you give to charity, you will harm your spirits.'? And where does it say it in the Bible? And if it is Jesus that said it, Jesus never said any such thing. That's so unlike Him it's almost funny that anyone would attribute such a statement to Him! Just the opposite, check out what He says in Luke 12:33-34: 'Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.'

M.J.

You refer to texts that were tweaked by the religious establishment since the time of "st" Paul, who decided to fight teachings of Jesus by joining in and sabotaging them.

Book/Gospel of Thomas (the only person who was capable of understanding what Jesus meant) were removed. Luckily @2000 year old copies have been found in 1945 in Egypt.

In there you find "Seek after the treasure that is unfailing... where no moth comes to consume and no worm destroys". Needless to say, a PURSE does not qualify, because, as everything material, it eventually disintegrates.

Jesus spoke in parables, but I speak explicitly. Seek development of Consciousness. No one can steal your Imagination, Intelligence, Sense of Humour, Understanding and Wisdom. Not only they cannot be taken away from you, but also they cannot be GIVEN. You need to develop them all by yourself. For more explanation please see this article.

Distorted and perverted sayings of Jesus were designed to ensure prosperity of the religion. You have eyes, but can you see?

Tom

'Whoever doesn't know self - doesn't know anything, but whoever knows self has already acquired the knowledge about the depth of the universe'

Where is this in the bible or the book of thomas? Do you really think people 2000 years ago used words such as 'Universe' ? There is a flaw in this phrase i think !

conan

One day Jesus said "Do not throw pearls to swine for they may make them worthless". You are intelligent, but can you understand it?

Our ancient ancestors constructed cosmically aligned pyramids taller than our city buildins, from @50 tonne stones, cut to within 0.3 mm and assembled on top of one another without even a trace of any edge damage.

Ancient Greek has several time more words than "modern" English. Do you think it is a coincidence that words such as atom, electron, photon and Cosmos for example are taken directly from an ancient language?

Tom

Tom, Christians always use quotes from the bible to support their (often ridicluous) beliefs. It would be very nice if one could present to them arguments such as the one you've given above (i.e paul actually wanted to sabotage the teachings of Jesus). But then immediately the question arises as to how one knows that. So I was wondering whether you could point me to any authentic references supporting say for example your statement 'who decided to fight teachings of Jesus by joining in and sabotaging them'. Thank you very much

Sourish

See Acts : 9:1-30 "As Paul was going to Damascus to persecute Christians he saw light from heaven and heard the risen Christ."

Paul was committed to fight followers of Christ. Why don't you study how much of the Xtian doctrine has been created/modified by Paul on the basis of his alledged "private channelling" that no one else has ever verified. He has never seen or heard Jesus....

Tom

Paul, the self-proclaimed apostle megalomaniac, was the founder of later i.e. present-day Christianity i.e. a form of Pauliany. It evolved into the Roman Catholic Church of today and formed the present Western thought. He did persecute and single-handedly kill followers of the original teachings of Christ. Some of his pervertions:

-by faith alone can you reach God, not through good deeds; introducing a belief that Christ sacrificed at the cross for the atonement of your sins, and voila - you are saved!
-church has an authority to grant anyone forgiveness for "sins".
-you have the original sin of Adam and Eve to be responsible for
-introducing a belief that a word from Paul is a word from God. 'If anyone thinks he is prophet or spiritual, he must acknowledge that what I am writing to you is true and from the Lord God'.

It is a dizzying thought what negative influence Paul had over Earth's history during the last 2000 years. Most of the things that the Western society accepts as normal has been drummed into it by criminals such as Paul and others.

Thomas Jefferson said: 'Paul was the first corrupter of the doctrines of Jesus'.Gandhi, Carl Jung, Shaw, and other prominent minds supported this, too.

Paul was "prosecuting" Jesus followers, simply because he was a powerful figure in the Roman Empire. He seemed to have an authority over local puppet kings, such as the one in Damascus.

Paul realized that killing (and finding) all inspired people could be difficult, but misguiding them should be much easier. Hence, he claimed to be "blinded by Light from Heaven" (I can assure you that The Light has nothing to do with physical eyes), claimed to miraculously "recover" his eyesight and became a self-proclaimed authority of God and Christ.

As you can see from the above, he has changed ideas of Christ into a "roman" cult which, like most pagan belief systems, was (and is) based on idolatry, sacrifice and rituals, not the Reality of the Universe. You know what happened next, do you? The effect of it we can see today...
