Dear Tom, As a developer of many types of media, I often find myself having to create 'stories' or write articles for websites and magazines. Your work and books inspire me to a degree that I can't really consider writing an article or a story without including some of your gems of wisdom. I was wondering how you felt on this subject - i know you touched on it briefly in TFOC - but i would like an explicit answer if possible.
If I put forth a story or article strongly inspired by your thoughts, am I infringing on your copyright? You have changed my way of thinking, my way of life, where MY thoughts often directly stem from YOUR books. Warm regards, Lachie

You won't infringe anything if you find a way to acknowledge the source of your inspiration.
Feel free to quote anything that you consider wise and/or thought provoking. Even if you cannot make an acknowledgment, don't feel restrained in trying to make people think for themselves.
