Free Will and Destiny?

Hello Tom. One thing which has fascinated me for some time is the co-existence of free will and so called pre-destiny. What are your thoughts on how they relate? It feels absolutely right to me that my free will is real.

It also feels similarly correct that I have chosen this existence in order to 'progress'. If a person, with all the understanding they possess, strives to develop the self in as many ways as possible, is this a very good use of free will? I have asked my higher self for assistance in finding an 'occupation' which will best assist my conscious progress. The result has been a drifting away from my previous lifestyle towards something else...

Although there have been no direct answers, it feels as if I am being given just enough 'information' to allow me to make progressively better choices with my free will.

Summarising, it has been my experience that with conscious effort, my higher self is actively assisting exactly when I need it, not to direct me how to live my life, but to bring to my conscious attention the best possible range of choices I can make-according to my understanding.
