Tom, do you think we are all incarnated with a specific life task (deeply and completely personal for all of us), as well as a general life task that is universal to all of us (deeply universal). It seems that the severe problems in our life we experience force us into our own personal life task (curing ourselves of disease) and the failure to get the lesson can result in the death of the physical body. However, it also seems that our lives are more harmonious when we follow the general principles of nature and live with the principles of the universe in mind. It seems that no matter how hard we might try, there is no avoiding the life task, despite our honets attempts to follow the natural principles and design of the universe. This seems to be what many people on the spiritual path do, obey 'gods laws' so that they can try and avoid facing themselves 'going to hell'. The shocks and the severe challenges are there to remind us of the specific and unique reason why we are here in the first place and act to deepen our own personal journey. I think studying and following the principles of the universe makes the time in between as well as the actual serious events less traumatic along the way. It seems we need a good kick up the ass...

The essence of our consciousness is INDIVIDUALITY and autonomy. Hence, our learning (and thinking) path must also be highly individual.
Since we also have to have The Freedom of Choice, it is highly likely that we actually choose when and what we want to learn. From the above it is obvious that our "lifetime homework" is individual.
Of course, this doesn't mean that someone else cannot have similar preferences, that MAY be of the Universal nature.
Expanding the context of your existence and seeing yourself as a Citizen of the Universe always seems to help. For this reason I keep reading The Freedom of Choice everytime I face depressing problems...

Tom,i am a person looking for the Higher Truth and your book has really opened up or has broadened my understanding on the purpose of life when i see it on a sufi perspective.( i am trying to be a sufi)How do u compare the Thiaoouba planet with the 12th planet written by Zecharia Sitchin, How is it related.Rgds and thks [Mirjean]
Hi Mirjean,One book was written by an academic (Zacharia Sitchin) with inferences drawn from distorted and false methodologies. This book promotes fear and undermines the valid points Tom has made in the FOC. The other book was written by a farmer (Thiaoouba) with no academic training. If you search inside, which book appears to resonate more with yourself and your true nature. Which one appears to make more sense deep down inside.
