Hello Tom, I was talking with a friend about this "object than cannot be lifted" idea and we brought it to its logical conclusion... Consider if "almighty" can create a universal law that cannot be broken. If he can create such a law, then since he cannot break it he is not almighty; if it cannot create the law, he is not almighty either.
Similarly, can "almighty" create a law that limits him? If he can, then he is not almighty (because he is bound to the law and therefore limited). If he cannot create the law, then he is not almighty either.
I thoroughly congratulate you on your "seed", your logical train of thought. It's brilliant and I am the richer for understanding it. Thank you! With Love,
Lachie
Great Intellect, Creator of the Universe may be more powerful that anyone of us here on Earth can imagine, but is not almighty, simply because such a concept is self-contradicting.
What do you think of oaths on "almighty"? Aren't they fundamentally invalid, because they are based on something that cannot exist in any logical Reality?
What do you think of a legal system that demands such oaths? Do you think anyone there has ever read Matthew (33) from the very book that they demand people to swear their oath on?
The entire Universe is a system of limited resources and every individual in it (including GI) has to learn how to make the best possible use of these limited resources. Doesn't it also apply to our life in physical bodies on a spacecraft called planet?
Examine yourself. How well do you use conscious resources that are available to you? How wisely do you use material resources? Can you make any improvements?
Everyone of us here on Earth has a limited memory. What do we store in it? Can we remove some clutter to make room for thinking and exploring ideas?
It is important to note that the necessity of dealing with limited resources does not necessarily limit your potential in the Universe. The entire Universe itself is the limit, but only until you learn how to make another one with more resources. Can you reach this limit? Are you aiming for it? Can you imagine aiming for it? I am not asking you how much resources can you waste or destroy...
Also, giving us more resources does not make us any wiser or more intelligent. Consider for example that giving a programmer a better computer does not make him/her any better programmer. On the contrary, a programmer that becomes aware of and learns to cope with limited resources becomes a better programmer. Just like an Individual Intellect in the School of Life called the Universe...
Tom
That's very true, Tom. Consider the state of computer games - some of the most imaginative and original games were created on the most limited hardware in the 1980s. Today, when programmers have nearly infinite storage and power at their disposal, all they make are violent war and death simulations which actively sabotage the intellects of all that play them - I know that for a fact (learned that lesson the hard way).
It seems that creativity always thrives under severely limited conditions, and under self-imposed limitations. Love,
Lachie
