Living Father?

Dear Tom, in the translations of the gospel of Thomas that I have downloaded from the internet I see expressions such as 'the living father'. Is he talking about the GI?

Most likely. He always refers to it as a "source of all life".

Note that he also states that the role of physical parents is not so significant.

In studying these texts please pay very close attention how competent/indoctrinated is the translator. Translators have tendency to apply some bias/terminology on the basis of some other well mis-translated and distorted texts for which originals are lost.

Gospel of Thomas is unique, because it is translated directly from a 2000 years old document that still exists today.
