User Manual for Conscious Existence?

I must say that this book was a pleasurable reading. I really appreciate the simplicity of your language at such a complex delivery.

I do have one question, however, and this may only be an indication of how stuck I am in all of the rigid teachings that I have encountered, which ironically I do oppose. I understand that the Great Intellect created us in order to give Love and to learn from all of our experiences on earth. But, where are the guidelines? Where are the rules that tell us what is right from wrong? You mentioned the house that is so beautifully designed. Each part of the house comes with an operating manual so that it is used correctly and fixed if broken. A child is taught what is right and what is wrong. If the child is not taught then will it be able to distinguish at a moment of anger or rage? I know that you spoke of finding the answer within. But sometimes, basic concepts of life must be taught. Where are those guidelines that we must have from the Great Intellect so that we can Love and be Loved back? Are there any sins?

The necessary conditions for evolution of Intellect seem to be individuality and Total Freedom of Thought. When any of the above is compromised in any way, the result becomes a puppet, not an Individual Intellect. For more info please read this article

Giving ANY instructions to "follow" would be a direct violation of the Freedom of Thought. Hence, in principle, instructions (or commandments) cannot (and shouldn't) be given, if the aim of the Creator is Evolution of Individual Intellects and attracting their best feelings. People who imply that instruction are/were "given by god" also imply that their god is an idiot who has no idea what is Love.

However, if you begin to study the Self, you will have to admit, that you have certain preferences. For example, you may notice, that you prefer to feel happy rather than miserable. Loved rather than hated. Smart rather than stupid. Knowledgable rather than ignorant. You may prefer to exist in Harmony rather than in Conflict with Nature (The Design in front of your eyes). You may prefer self-development rather than self-destruction.

Establishing preferences WITHIN should give you the basis for the "guidelines" that you are looking for. Note that these preferences change as you evolve, so you need to update your "guidelines" regularly. Don't expect a child to have the same prefrences as you.

The next step is to execute your preferences (make choices) in a process that we may call "life on Earth" and then OBSERVE consequences of your choices for the Self and everything/everyone around you.

When you find out which of your choices lead to suffering and misery, either of the Self or others and take steps to improve your choices - you will enter a path of refining your "guidelines".

You may say that a child (or a beginner) needs a teacher to begin with and I will agree. Note, however, that a good teacher will never command a child "do this and do not do that". A good teacher will show a child some contrasting examples and then ASK: "what do you think will be consequences of you doing this and that?" - letting a child to make its OWN CHOICE, arrive at its own conclusions and even make its own experiments. This is precisely what you own Higher Self does everyday. Are you capable of paying attention to its hints?

The concept of a "sin" is misleading to say the least. I am sure that you are able to find out which of your own choices may lead to self-destruction and which choices lead to self-development. Study the Self.

What could be the MOTIVE of those who explicitly instruct you not to think and therefore stay ignorant?

Aren't you curious?

Are you also taught "shut up, do as we say or else you will go to hell" ?
