Is giving people what they want ok from a moral perspective?
For example, people love to download logos, meaningless pictures and sounds to their mobile phones. They spend so much time and money on getting the latest feature like new shells, a display that blinks in many colors, etc etc.
So my question is this: Is it ok to make a service that supports this, so people can use it with their free will, and I'll make money so in turn I can do the things I want? Am I the culprit in giving people exactly what they want?
I'm thinking that maybe I'm making people more stupid by supporting these kind of activities. I don't really want to make people more stupid, but nobody is forcing them to use it. And creating the whole thing is a interesting challenge, everything from programming to setting up a company. I learn from it, I feel stimulated, even though I would never use it. And nobody gets hurt! So, any problems with my way of thinking?
Andreas
As you know, you have The Freedom of Choice of doing whatever you like.
My choice is to use my conscious efforts to make some contribution to humanity and stimulate people to think a little more about why they are alive.
Have in mind that "people needs" are shaped by the establishment specifically to divert their attention from Nature, the Purpose of Existence and other essential issues. Do you really want to support this?
Tom
No, I definitely don't want to support that... But by living and making a living here in the society I feel like all my activities in one way or another support the establishment. It's just so hard to know where to draw the line.
Andreas
Never doubt that conscious efforts of ONE intelligent individual can change the world. This is the only thing that ever did...
Keep thinking of what to do and why.
